  • The River Studio 332 Water Street Hallowell, ME, 04347 United States (map)

** SOLD OUT: please contact Kim Nixon if you would like to be put on the waiting list **

Please join us at The River Studio in Hallowell on 12/22 for a Winter Solstice celebration, embracing the darkness and celebrating the return of the light. Winter Solstice marks the shortest day and longest night of the year. Symbolically, it's a time of turning inward, into the darkness, into the depths of the unknown -- a time of tuning into a deep sense of intuition and trusting your inner voice. In a sense, it is a time of feeling your way in the dark when you cannot see where you are going.

Join us to purify the body, mind, and soul through sage smudging, mantras, breath awareness, a gentle and supported Yin Yoga sequence led by Kim Nixon and Yoga Nidra guided meditation led by Julie Gammon Set your intention(s) and shed what is no longer serving you. All levels welcome.

$30 investment in self. ♥ Please preregister here:  https://www.paypal.me/KimNixonYoga (with the message "Yin Moon Nidra 12/22.")
Maximum 16 students.

YIN YOGA is a quiet, meditative practice that works on all levels of the being. In Yin Yoga, floor postures are held passively for several minutes in order to access the deep layers of connective tissue. Physically, Yin Yoga helps us to open our bodies and to restore and maintain range of motion in the joints. Energetically, it opens the body's meridian system, enhancing the energetic flow. Through its emphasis on stillness and silence, Yin Yoga prepares both the body and the mind for deeper experiences in meditation. (No previous yoga experience is required. Beneficial for all body types, including those with joint issues. )

YOGA NIDRA is a specific type of guided relaxation which leads you through connection with the 5 sheaths of your being (physical, prana/energy, emotional, mental, and bliss bodies). They get damaged and displaced by the traumas we experience in our lives, and the superconscious state of yoga nidra helps us to heal and reintegrate them. It is essentially the yogic version of a shamanic soul retrieval. The superconscious state of yoga nidra has been shown to accelerate healing and learning.

You will emerge from this special experience with a deep sense of peace and well-being, rejuvenated, feeling connected and ready to share your divine Self!

Please bring a piece of paper with between 1-7 intentions you wish to manifest written on it. Wear comfy stretchy clothing for gentle movement. You will emerge from this special experience with a deep sense of peace and well-being, feeling rejuvenated and connected.

"I like to think of this time as the season of the womb... when we go within and just be in the rhythm of life. In this space, often we can begin to feel new beginnings, gentle stirrings. If it feels right to you, surrender to the womb and softly emerge as we begin to witness the entrance of light after the Winter Solstice " ~Brenda Colfer
